Sport - Charity - Community

More than anyone, sportsmen and women appreciate the blessing of good health and the ability to play the games they love. That's why we have a duty to help others grow up with the same opportunity in life.
Martin Johnson CBE, England World Cup winning Rugby Captain
speaking as President of Sparks

The positive links between sports, charity and the local community in terms of education, health and youth development are clear and at Lynx we aim to build the relationship between these elements and see it as a key to the future development of our business.

To that end we take a proactive role in sponsoring local teams and clubs including
Lymington Cricket Club and New Milton Hockey Club. We believe in the importance of a two-way relationship in this and feel that we gain as much through our involvement with the clubs as we hope they do through our support. Our Ahead of the Game programme looks to work with young people in the area to develop their life skills and unlock their potential through sport.

The importance of sport and sports people to charity is perfectly summed up by the quote above from Martin Johnson. The positive profile of elite athletes will do a huge amount for a charity. At Lynx we also like to get our hands dirty; Hugo Ambrose helped to raise over £100k in 2003 through rowing the Atlantic and in the July 2007 took part in
The Artemis Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon, a gruelling one-day challenge through which he and his team of four have raised £65k for charity.
