Hugo Ambrose has twenty plus years experience in property development and other related fields. As a change of pace in 2001, he and a friend, Guy Quilter, decided it would be a good idea and a bit of a challenge to row across the Atlantic. The challenge involved two years of intensive planning and physical training. The pair raised the £80,000 project costs from business sponsors and then set about raising money for a variety of Charities. Well in excess of £100k was donated and the £56k raised for the BBC Children in Need Appeal remains a record from personal donors. The venture illustrated the willingness of businesses and individuals to allocate time and money to a sporting venture outside the perceived mainstream. An overriding theme of the project was to ensure personal involvement of sponsors and contributors throughout, giving them equal credit and immense satisfaction at the completion of the event; it is this element that Hugo sees as key to managing athletes in the future. Simply put, Lynx Sports Management will work to form a strong and lasting relationship between athlete, sponsor, charity and the public. Hugo's other sporting achievements include an assortment of trophies for long driving at charity golf days and he once hit an international bowler for six to win a match against the MCC. He lives on the South Coast with his wife and three children.
